The two‑day Third Hydropower and Pumped Storage Construction Conference & Equipment Exhibition recently concluded successfully in Chengdu. Mr. Liu Mingyu, Western Sales Director and Energy & Mining Sector Director of Pangu, was invited to deliver a keynote address, in which he systematically elaborated on the core technological advantages of GOOGOL power-station products. Together with his partner Fujian AKS Power Equipment Co., Ltd., he jointly demonstrated on site the engine products and complete power solutions specially tailored for pumped‑storage power stations, drawing extensive attention from the industry.

从技术规范层面看,国标GB/T 32594—2016《抽水蓄能电站保安电源技术导则》及水利水电行业标准SL/T 485-2025提到,柴油发电机组在抽水蓄能电站中的核心应用场景主要涵盖三类:一是作为市电失电情况下的安保应急电源,保障电站关键设备的安全停机;二是承担电站黑启动电源功能,在电网全停时助力机组快速恢复并网;三是满足施工建设及设备调试期间的工程用电需求,贯穿项目全生命周期。
From a technical and regulatory perspective, the national standard GB/T 32594-2016 *Technical Guide for Security Power Supply of Pumped‑Storage Power Stations* and the water‑resources and hydropower industry standard SL/T 485‑2025 specify that the core application scenarios of diesel generator sets in pumped‑storage power stations mainly fall into three categories: first, as security emergency power supply in the event of mains power loss, ensuring the safe shutdown of critical station equipment; second, as black‑start power supply, enabling rapid unit restoration and grid synchronisation after a total grid outage; and third, as construction and commissioning power during the project construction and equipment debugging phases, covering the entire project lifecycle.

To meet these stringent requirements, GOOGOL’s flagship P-series and Q-series diesel generator sets are equipped with communication-grade load-carrying capability and can deliver second-level response at the instant of a power outage, providing stable and reliable power support for hydropower stations. Given that pumped-storage stations are often sited in mountainous areas with complex terrain or in deep valley zones with significant elevation differences,GOOGOL products feature specially enhanced derating compensation design for high‑altitude environments. This ensures that rated output power can be maintained even under extreme conditions such as thin air and restricted heat dissipation (for altitudes above 1,500 metres, derating is 4% for every additional 300 metres in elevation), with performance degradation far below the industry average. It is worth noting that Pangu products were successfully delivered to the Wulong Hydropower Station of Datang Group as early as 2010, and have since been field‑verified in benchmark projects such as the Fujian Yongtai Pumped‑Storage Power Station, accumulating substantial operational data and maintenance experience.

At present, as the national strategy for cascade development of western hydropower resources continues to advance, a large number of hydropower projects have entered the planning and construction stages. As an indispensable backup safeguard for green hydropower development, diesel generator sets are witnessing steadily growing market demand.
